New Dillí - 2015, April, 8th - The President of the Portuguese Yoga Confederation, H.H. Sat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája, has just recieved the Padma Shrí Award from the hands of Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, the President of India, as recognition for his "exceptional contribution" to the promotion of Yoga in the World and of Yoga as a way to World Peace.
It is the first time that a portuguese is decorated with this award, created in 1954. This high distinction praises H.H. Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája for his decisive role on the creation of the International Day of Yoga, made oficial in December 2014 at the UN and commemorated since 2001 in Portugal, June 21st.
